To empower the organization/workers’ livelihood and help the micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the province, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA Region thru Palawan Field Office conducted two-day Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) cum Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) Training to 16 DOLE-registered workers’ associations last September 10-11, 2019 at Ponce De Leon Resort, Libis Road, San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City. Thirteen (13) representatives from different associations from Quezon, Palawan, one (1) from Narra, Palawan and two (2) from Puerto Princesa, Palawan came to participate.

The training conducted was based on the Competency-Based Economies through Formation of Enterprise (CEFE) which is a comprehensive set of training instruments designed to stimulate positive change in various development processes through experiential learning methods. The DOLE team used the experiential learning approach to make the training more interactive and somehow enable the participants to learn through reflection on doing. Among the topics discussed are Basic Project Proposal Making, the Vision and Mission, Goals and Objective Setting, Values Clarification, Management, Marketing, Production and Financial Management. Workshops on project proposal writing, production, marketing and financial aspects were also tackled during the activity.

Business Plan Game was also applied during the training to the participants for virtual simulation of real application of running their business. Furthermore, participants were also oriented about the documentary requirements to avail funding from the department. Once they have completed the needed requirements, DOLE will fund their project and further assist on the necessary trainings to ensure the success of their business.

DOLE Palawan Field Officer Mr. Luis B. Evangelista gave inspirational message to participant from each association during the opening of the activity. He encouraged each participant to listen well, absorb all the necessary information and apply such for the benefit of their respective projects and organizational growth. “Sana po ay may makita kaming positibong pagbabago sa inyong asosasyon at makita din naming ang completeness ng inyong dokumento ‘pag kayo ay mag-aapply sa amin ng inyong group livelihood. Ito po ay suporta ng gobyerno, sa pamamamgitan ng DOLE, upang ang inyong kabuhayan at antas ng pamumuhay ay umangat” (Looking forward for the growth of your association and hoping for the completeness of the documentary requirements once you apply for your group livelihood project. This DOLE’s intervention is one of the supports/programs of the government to alleviate poverty), he added.

Mr. Renell G. Mayo discussed Basic Proposal Making, Production Plan and did the critiquing of assigned sections for 4 groups for the sample project proposal. Ms. Ma. Socorro U. Marquez set the expectation of the workers and likewise tackled Business Plan 101, Business Plan Game, Marketing and Management Plans. Lastly, Ms. Shawn Casandrabelle Amaris De Castro taught participants how to make financial reports of their business.
