As the Batch 2019 Graduating Class prepares their way into commencement exercises and would sooner join the labor force, the Department of Labor and Employment Occidental Mindoro Field Office in coordination with the Guidance and Testing Center of Occidental Mindoro State College had successfully concluded a series of Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) to its four (4) campuses in Murtha, Labangan, Sablayan and Mamburao on February 22 -– 28, 2019 reaching a total of 1, 670 graduating students.
The labor education aims to prepare the graduating students or the “would be workers” in the world of work, and somehow readies them in job hunting through the discussion of pre-employment tips, and DOLE’s employment facilitation services. Other topics discussed are the employer and workers’ basic rights, social welfare benefits, occupational safety and health, and the prevailing minimum wage in every region.
This way, these students will understand their roles and responsibilities in applying for work, the industry they wished to work for, and the profession they would pursue. At least these future workers will likewise learn work ethics, the culture of productive and decent work, and other dynamics in the workplace.
