On January 11, 2019, DOLE Marinduque Field Office Head Mr. Luis B. Evangelista awarded livelihood grants to two (2) workers associations duly received by the Barangay Officials as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) together with the officers of the recipient associations.
The livelihood grant amounting to PhP 994,820.00 will be used for Banana Chips Production of Bantay Farmers Association through their ACP, Barangay Bantay, Boac. Bantay Farmers Association was very thankful: “Napakalaki po ng maitutulong ng grant na ito, ‘di lamang sa aming asosasyon kundi higit sa aming kumunidad. Makakaasa po ang DOLE na di namin babaliwalain ang itinulong sa amin bagkus ay higit pa itong pagyayamanin” (This grant served as big help not only in our association but also to the entire community. Rest assured that this livelihood opportunity will be nurtured), said by Mr. Noel Jinang, President of the said Association. “Magiging isa sa iingatan kong proyekto ng Barangay Bantay ang Banana Chips Production sa kadahilanan na naniniwala ako na makapagbibigay ito ng dagdag na empleyo sa aming barangay” (This Banana Chips Production of Barangay Bantay will be closely monitored as this will gives additional employment opportunities in our area), uttered by Barangay Chairman Renato Lope.
Meanwhile, a livelihood project amounting to PhP 763,960.00 was awarded to Mangingisda Sama-sama sa Pag-Unlad through Barangay Argao, Mogpog as the ACP, intended for Techno-based long line method for mussel culture. “Ang grant po na ito ay magiging isang challenge ‘di lamang para sa barangay ngunit higit sa asosasyon. Pero alam din naman ng pamunuan na ang pag-agapay ng DOLE ay mas magiging matibay para tulungan kami sa proyekto na ito” (Nurturing this livelihood is a challenge not only to the Barangay but also to the proponent. But through the technical assistance of DOLE, we believe that this project will be successful), said by Maria Cielo Solis, Barangay Chairman.
As the ACP, their (Barangays) roles will not only focus on procurement of necessary materials, tools and equipment but would also serve as extended arm of the department in the monitoring of each livelihood projects towards its success.
