BOAC, MARINDUQUE – The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) in coordination with DOLE Marinduque Field Office successfully conducted orientation/seminar on awareness of workers and employees about the Employment Compensation Program (ECP) last April 24, 2019 at Balar Event Place.
With one hundred twenty-two (122) participants coming from private establishments and government workers including men in uniform, ECC was able to raise the awareness and understanding of workers in relation to their rights and benefits under ECP.
Mr. Peter James D. Cortazar, Field Office Head of DOLE Marinduque, welcomed the participants as he mentioned: “Increasing the awareness of workers with regards to ECC does not end there. It is still more important that we develop and sustain a culture of safe and healthy environment in the workplace”.
Deputy Executive Director of ECC, Atty. Jonathan T. Villasotto, graced the activity as he inspired the participants by providing them additional information on their program.
Moreover, introduction of ECP was clearly presented by Chief of Information and Public Assistance Division of ECC, Ms. Ma. Cecilia Maulion.
Dr. Sarah I. Conception, Medical Officer IV of Work Contingency Prevention and Rehabilitation Division, was also present as she tackled the issues regarding Prevention and Rehabilitation Services of ECP.
Meanwhile, Ms. Alicia S. Borres, Information Officer IV, IPAD, further explained on how the worker can avail the compensation through ECC.
Senior Labor and Employment Officer Mr. Marjun S. Moreno handled the discussion on Safety Officer 1 training and Provincial Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (PTIPC) Reengineering. Also, Election of new set of officers for Marinduque PTIPC was conducted.
Last part of the activity focused on the open forum in which queries and related concerns were raised responded by Atty. Villasotto. Through this portion, participants were fully enlightened not only on the benefits they could avail of but also the importance of setting the safety as culture.
