CORON, PALAWAN – On 17 June 2022, DOLE MIMAROPA headed by Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana and Asst. Regional Director Erwin N. Aquino led the creation of the Palawan Tourism Industry Tripartite Council. The council will serve as a forum for tripartite advisement and consultation empowering workers’and employers’organizations enhancing their respective rights, attaining industrial peace and improving productivity.

Aside from the DOLE MIMAROPA representatives, present during the ITC creation were 74 (face-to-face) and 3 (via Zoom) participants from the workers and employers’sector. The program was hosted and moderated by Engr. Charity Cabral.

Discussed during the activity were:

1. Tripartism by Ms. Ma. Socorro Marquez
2. Department Order No. 198-18 by Engr. Rhea Paitan
3. Department Order No. 174-17 by Mr. Emmanuel Antonio Portugal Jr.
4. Orientation on General Labor Standards by Mr. Loreta Catapang.

Also, facilitated by Atty. Shirley Marie QuiΓ±ones, a resolution for the Council’s creation was approved and adopted by the body.

The TIPC program involves the promotion of tripartite industrial peace council’s formation, as well as the industry tripartite councils, in the national, regional, city/municipal and provincial levels. It also includes the institutionalization of social dialogues and tripartite consultations on policies and programs affecting labor and management.
